APPLICATION TO JOIN AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA

I hereby apply to join AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA.

• This document is not intended to create legally enforceable rights or obligations. If a party fails to observe this agreement, that is solely a matter for his or her own conscience - not for a Court of law.
• I certify that I am a pilot and have flown an aircraft on at least one flight which landed at a place different from the place of take-off. (For this purpose, an aircraft includes an ultra-light aircraft, glider, balloon or powered parachute.)
• Alternatively, I certify that I hold or have held a license or certificate issued by CASA authorising me to perform aviation functions such as engineering.
• I understand I may resign at any time.
• I agree not to oppose any legislative compromise to which AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA agrees on my behalf in respect of any legislation before the Parliament, even if I don't like the compromise. (This is essential because AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA may have to kick up a hell of a stink at times, and the fact that it has the power to stop the stink is an important bargaining chip. Note that you are not bound by this provision unless AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA AGREES to a compromise.)
• I agree to send thank-you faxes on request to politicians who support us, even if I detest the politician or his/her policies. (We need help to win our battles, and must be prepared to be gracious to those who help us.  Everybody likes a thank-you, even the toughest old war-horse in Parliament, and that makes thank-you notes a powerful political tool.)
• I agree to send faxes of demand to politicians when requested, or to send AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA a fax or e-mail saying that I have not sent the fax of demand and why not. (Note that you can unilaterally withdraw from this agreement by resigning at any time so you don't have to fear that you'll be asked to send 100 faxes.)
• I agree to take the legal and peaceable steps suggested by AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA in order to get a fair trial in open Court for any member of AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA who is accused by CASA of a breach of aviation law. In particular I agree to support any fellow-member's demand for a fair trial no matter how bad the alleged breach of aviation law. I will not usurp the functions of the Courts by pre-judging a fellow member's conduct and will take the steps suggested by AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA to prevent CASA usurping those functions.  (Note:  this only means that AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA will strive to get any of its members a fair trial.  It does not mean we will claim the member is innocent or seek in any improper way to influence the outcome of the trial.)
• If accused by CASA of an aviation offence I can call on AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA for assistance as set out in www.airsafety.com.au/allforone
• I realise that the Government and CASA will become aware that I am a member of AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA.
• I understand that I must provide either a fax number or an e-mail address for receipt of communications from AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA. In the case of an e-mail address I agree to clear it at least twice a week. In the case of a fax number, I recognise that it must be an automatic fax machine capable of receiving faxes from a computer.
