AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA admin@airsafety.com.au Fax: 08 8276 4666 Phone: 08 8276 4600 PO Box 172 Unley South Australia 5061 THE ENEMIES OF LIGHT AVIATION ARE HAVING A BIG PARTY TONIGHT The Minister for Transport now has the excuse he needs to walk away from his election promise about airspace. Bruce Byron, CASA's CEO, has written to the Minister saying it would now be dangerous to stop Airservices going ahead with the Airspace roll-back of 25th November. See www.casa.gov.au./nas/letter_2b.pdf This concerns not just airspace but every other aviation promise the Minister made. It was clear on 14th October that the Minister was having second thoughts about his aviation promises. He wrote to Bruce Byron on 18th October apparently asking for the letter he has now received. The sequence of events shows the Coalition’s aviation election promises were pure hot air. While the Minister was making promises which looked good to us, and was talking tough in public, in private he was telling the bureaucrats they need not worry. This is shown so clearly by the letter written to Tom Grant of Airservices by the Minister's Chief of Staff on 20th October (see www.airsafety.com.au/ea21plas.htm ) and even more clearly by the affidavit filed by Tom Grant afterwards (see www.airsafety.com.au/ea21tgaff.htm ) Malcolm Fraser all over again! The Coalition has turned its back on its supporters in an attempt to avoid ruffling its opponents' feathers. Only a few weeks ago I suggested that you vote for the Coalition on the basis of the Minister's aviation promises which I now see were false. I hang my head in absolute shame to have fallen for those promises. Boyd MunroAIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA 2nd November 2004 P.S.
