RESULTS OF THE NO-FAULT LIABILITY BALLOT
AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA's members
overwhelmingly rejected AOPA's proposal to
introduce no-fault liability - that is, make
aircraft owners liable for injuries to passengers
in their aircraft even if the owner is not at
fault. I am very pleased to report that the
participation rate was very high - some 70% of our
members voted. This is an expression of
confidence that a proper democratic vote will
achieve something!
Final figures are:
AGAINST no-fault liability:
485 FOR no-fault
liability:
4
ABSTAIN:
4
INFORMAL:
3
TOTAL:
496
Ballot
papers were tallied by e-ballot.com who confirmed
to each voter that his/her vote had been counted,
and how it was counted.
If you voted, but did not receive a
confirmation from e-ballot.com, please advise us
so that we can correct the system before next
time.
The result is quite conclusive. AIR
SAFETY AUSTRALIA vigorously opposes the
introduction of no-fault liability for aircraft
owners - and those who seek to impose such a
ridiculous impost will hear your voices loud and
clear.
If you know of any other pilots who would
benefit from being given the opportunity to have a
real say on the real issues that
affect our lives as pilots then please ask them to
call our office and join up. The greater our
number the more powerful our voice.
Don't forget that Jim and Matthew are available
in the ASA office to assist members wherever they
can. I know that Jim has appreciated recent
help from ASA members in research projects so when
you hear that unmistakable chainsaw on the other
end of the phone, do what you can to help us help all
of us.
