One for all and all for one - mutual self-help
for Australian pilots.
These are the conditions on which AIR SAFETY
AUSTRALIA will mobilise its members on your behalf
if CASA accuses you of breaking a provision of the
Civil Aviation Act or the Civil Aviation
Regulations.
- We will fight like tigers for your right to
a fair and open trial in an independent Court
(as opposed to a secret trial by CASA under
the "show cause" process). However
we will not attempt to improperly influence
the outcome of that trial by - for example -
stating that you are innocent.
- We do not need to know "your side of
the story" and would rather not know it.
All we need to know is that you are a member
of AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA and have complied with
these conditions.
- The incident which gives rise to the
accusation must have occurred after you joined
AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA, and you must have
remained a member of AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA
continuously since the incident.
- The alleged offence(s) must have occurred in
the course of your own personal duties as a
pilot. Offences in the course of non-piloting
duties, or offences by other people (e.g. your
employees) are not covered.
- It does not matter how serious the
accusation against you is - we will support
you subject only to these conditions.
- You must inform AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA as soon
as CASA makes the accusation, whether the
accusation is made in writing or orally or in
any other way.
- Once an allegation has been made you must
not engage in any conferences or meetings or
communication of any kind with CASA unless you
first inform AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA and get our
agreement.
- You must call upon CASA, in writing, to
prosecute you instead of dealing with you
unilaterally.
- You must have participated in at least 66%
of AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA's political actions
since you joined. You can participate in a
political action by either doing as AIR SAFETY
AUSTRALIA suggests, or by writing to us saying
why you have chosen not to.
- You must have participated in at least 80%
of AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA's "All for
One" actions since you joined.
- AIR SAFETY AUSTRALIA will treat each
situation on its merits and may mobilise its
members on your behalf even if you do not meet
all the above conditions.
- These conditions may be changed from time to
time. However if you ask for AIR SAFETY
AUSTRALIA's support in respect of a particular
accusation, these conditions will not be
changed after you have asked us for support.
